Information We Collect

  • Information you Provide to Us. We may collect certain information you provide to us when using the Studio Museum website, such as your name, address, telephone numbers, credit card or financial information, mailing address, e-mail address, interests and newsletter preferences.
  • Information We Collect Automatically. When you visit the Studio Museum website, our servers automatically collect information about the IP address from which you access the Site, the pages you visit, the date and time you access the Site, and the type of browser and operating system that you are using. The information we compile is used to enhance the visitor’s experience when using the website.

 

How We Collect Information

Email + Newsletter Sign Up. You may choose to provide us with personal information in an e-mail message to one of the addresses listed throughout the Site or by registering for our e-mail newsletter. We use this information only to respond to your message or to register you for the services you have requested. If you sign up for an e-mail newsletter, you have the option to unsubscribe at any time.

Applications. If you apply for a job, internship, education program or other we may ask you for additional information such as name, number, address, resume, education. We will not use this information for any other purpose than what you submitted it for. 

Online registration of event tickets. The Studio Museum in Harlem uses third-party vendors to administer and process your online registration for Museum events. We also work with third-party contractors to process ticketing for certain events or registration for certain courses. The Studio Museum in Harlem requires its vendors to maintain the security of the information which you provide to them and restricts the vendors from using this information in any way not expressly authorized by The Studio Museum in Harlem.

Online surveys. From time to time, the Studio Museum may invite you to participate in surveys posted on the website. Membership and donations. When purchasing a membership or making a donation to The Studio Museum in Harlem online or elsewhere, we will ask you to provide us with the information we need to process your membership and/or to acknowledge your contribution. This information includes your name, billing and mailing addresses, telephone number, email address, and credit card information. Your credit card information will be sent to our third-party payment card processors and service providers to perform fraud detection and payment processing services. Our third-party provider can process payments for members who have selected automatic renewal, and will retain payment information using tokenization technology for enhanced security.

Cookies were designed to be a reliable mechanism for websites to remember user information. We use cookies and other technologies, including device identifiers, to collect information and support certain features of this Site. For example, we may use these technologies to:

Credit card information is not made available to any third party and is considered confidential. We maintain a presence on several social networking platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, and we also incorporate some third-party social networking features onto our website. In addition, these third-party social networking platforms have their own privacy policies, which explain how the third parties that provide them will use and protect your information. The information we receive from third parties may depend on the privacy settings you have on the third-party platform.

 

If you send Email to any addresses or forms on the site

By sending us an electronic mail message, you may be sending us personal information (i.e., your name, address, e-mail address, etc.). We may store the name and address of the requester in order to respond to the request or otherwise resolve the subject matter of your e-mail. Standard web server traffic pattern information
General traffic, site usage and length of stay information is collected. This type of information is used to help The Studio Museum in Harlem improve the functionality of our web site and such information is not linked to individual visitors. The Museum uses the personal information you provide to us for internal purposes, such as completing and tracking your transaction, analyzing trends and collecting statistics.  The Museum may also compile and provide aggregate statistics about our visitors, customers, sales, traffic patterns and related site information to third parties.  We may also share such information with third-party vendors who help us analyze and understand our donor and membership base.
