The Studio Museum in Harlem acknowledges the importance of families spending time together. Nurturing bonds between people who identify as family, the Museum offers programs and experiences for families to share in viewing, discussing, and creating art. Creative engagement with visual art provides children and families with opportunities to foster understanding and togetherness.

Explore the Museum’s exhibitions and permanent collection through the creative arts process! Session A is designed for organizations providing care for pre-school aged children; Session B welcomes parents and caregivers.
Books, Authors, & Kids is a one-hour program that connects story-telling, literacy, and visual art. Families are invited to enjoy art-making, story-telling, and learn more about an artist’s creative practice. After an interactive engagement with a local author or artist, families create art together in response to the featured book, which they can borrow from the library to continue reading at home!
While Books, Authors, & Kids is paused, you can use the NYPL grab & go service now available at the George Bruce library.
