Harlem Stage Gatehouse, 150 Convent Ave, New York, NY 10031
Presented on the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King in partnership with Harlem Stage Gatehouse, this workshop invites participants to consider his legacy and evaluate where we are now through a communal timeline exercise addressing our collective past, present, and future (1960–2020). Led by visual artist Glendalys Medina, visitors will use a set of predetermined symbols to unpack and visually abstract their own memories of major personal and historical events. This hands-on workshop is presented as part of an evening of music, visual art, and movement honoring Dr. King as a fearless leader.
