Studio Museum 127, 429 W. 127th St.
Join us for a zine-making workshop led by Lorena Estrella and Chelsea Rodriguez of Colmado Zine. Space is limited. Please RSVP below.
The Colmado of the Dominican Republic is a place where people come to drink, eat, gossip, play cards, and flirt. Inspired by this space of community, Colmado Zine was harvested in 2017 by four Dominican-American sistafriends called to create in forms both familiar and new to each of us. We create in the hope that this work, in all of its forms, builds bridges between the islands we find in ourselves and the gulfs entre tu y yo.
Throughout the run of Radical Reading Room at Studio Museum 127, drop by on the first and third Saturdays of each month to contribute your text to the community archive and discuss its personal and collective importance. Centering radical approaches to storytelling, programs in this series may take the form of writing workshops, zine-making workshops, or live oral histories led by members of our creative community.
