One People Unite!

Barbara Jones-Hogu created truly iconic work during her time with AfriCOBRA (the African Commune of Bad Relevant Artists). This illustration highlights the several aspects of her style that inspired me. She used Kool-Aid colors, creative typography, and screenprinting to communicate vital messages about relevant issues. Unite (First State) is the main inspiration because it encompassed all her style signatures. The faces from Rise and Take Control conveyed the collective spirit prevalent in her practice.
