Since 2002, Harlem Postcards has invited artists of diverse backgrounds to transform their unique depictions of Harlem into postcards available for free to visitors to the Studio Museum. The latest installment in the series, Harlem Postcards: Wish You Were Here, presents over fifty historic Harlem Postcards, in addition to four new commissions which reflect on Harlem as a site of cultural activity, political vitality, and creative production.
In celebration of the exhibition, join us for a special edition of Artists on Artists whichwill feature the newly commissioned Harlem Postcards artists Nathaniel Lewis, Tarah Douglas, Isaac Diggs, and Jossie Rivera. The program will begin with a tour led by exhibition curator Doris Zhao, folllowed by five twenty-minute artist talks in the galleries. Each talk will be followed by a brief Q&A session.
This program is presented as a part of inHarlem, a dynamic set of collaborative programs in our neighborhood.
