Who Can Say No to a Gorgeous Brunette?

Who Can Say No to a Gorgeous Brunette?, from Hank Willis Thomas’s “Unbranded” series,  pulls images from advertisements targeting a Black audience or featuring Black subjects and digitally manipulates them to remove all text and logos. This image of a striking Black woman could be used to sell any number of consumer products. The question in the work’s title acknowledges the power in consumer’s desires to obtain some of the brunette’s allure.
