Last Look, Art-Making Workshops

Inspired by Houston E. Conwill's The Joyful Mysteries (1984–2034 A.D.) (1984), a set of seven bronze time capsules permanently installed in the Studio Museum's lower level, this drop-in writing and reflection station will offer Harlem Postcards as a material participants will use to record, collage, and illustrate their ideas about the Studio Museum as a historic and conceptual space. By engaging our past to develop visions for the future, we invite visitors to join us in reimagining our Museum and home on 125th Street. Postcards will be assembled in a growing collection of materials that will be unveiled during opening festivities of our future building.
Studio Squared is an ongoing series of informal, art-making workshops at the Studio Museum aimed at making a wide range of studio practices accessible to adult audiences. From figure drawing to abstract painting, and papermaking to collaging, these lively workshops inspire the maker in everyone!

This event is a part of Last Look, a four-day celebration of art and artists from our final exhibition season in our current building.
