Come learn, share and exchange with us at the Free Black Women's Library pop-up in the spirit of Studio Salon, the Museum's ongoing series of programs exploring the intersections of literature and contemporary art! The itinerant and interactive biblio-installation, created by Olaronke Akinmowo, takes inspiration from the book-sharing literary movement to celebrate books written by black women. Visitors are invited to interact with the collection, which now holds 900 books, by taking a book and leaving a book, empowering all involved in the exchange to expand their literary minds.
Book lovers, artists and writers alike are also welcome to take part in a creative writing exercise exploring the power and legacy of storytelling starting at 2 pm.
Be sure to also stop by our Book Market and add some Studio Museum publications to your own growing library!
