This generative, cross-genre workshop led by award-winning author and professor Crystal Wilkinson invites writers of fiction and non-fiction to source visual inspiration from works in Fictions, a survey of recent work at the Studio Museum by nineteen emerging artists of African descent who live and work across the United States. Often creating parallel or alternate narratives that complicate fact, fiction and memory, the diverse artistic practices and sources of inspiration represented by each artist will serve as a point of departure for professionally-instructed, focused creative writing.
The workshop is limited to 12 students, so be sure to register! For more information and to apply, please visit kwelijournal.org.
Studio Salon is the Museum's literary society that invites visitors to participate in an ongoing series of book clubs and creative writing workshops inspired by our exhibitions. Aimed at encouraging self-expression, creativity and critical dialogue, this program offers a unique opportunity for language lovers from all backgrounds to come together and openly discuss the intersections of literature and contemporary art!
