Join Art21 and The Studio Museum in Harlem at Maysles Documentary Center for a screening of two films from Art21's New York Close Up digital series featuring artist Jordan Casteel.

The films—Jordan Casteel Paints Her Community and Jordan Casteel Stays in the Moment—offer an intimate portrait of the emerging artist at work. An alumni of our signature Artist-in-Residence program and resident of Harlem, Casteel paints portraits of the people, primarily the Black men, that she meets in her neighborhood. Considering issues of access, visibility, and responsibility, the films also document the artist's first solo gallery exhibition at Casey Kaplan in Chelsea.

Following the screening, Casteel will join us for a conversation and Q&A with Art21's Executive Director and Chief Curator Tina Kukielski.
