Please join us in the Museum Store for a trunk show featuring posters and memorabilia from Harlem historian and preservationist John Reddick.

Reddick is one of Harlem's most engaging and knowledgeable purveyors of the neighborhood's history. Active in the preservation of New York's architecture, Mr. Reddick has written on Harlem's architectural and cultural history and is currently researching its Black and Jewish music culture between 1890 and 1903. He has given lectures at the Apollo Theater and the Museum of the City of New York, and led walking tours for El Museum del Barrio, Open House New York and Harlem Open Stop.

Reddick has also spearheaded several of Harlem's recent public space initiatives, providing design, coordination, public outreach and final artist selection for park and public plaza design enhancements. To date, his projects have included Elizabeth Catlett's sculptural tribute to Ralph Ellison in Riverside Park, Allison Saar's commemoration of Harriet Tubman at 122nd & St. Nicholas Avenue, and the recently completed memorial to Frederick Douglas by Artist Al Miller and Gabriel Koren located at Frederick Douglass Circle and Cental Park.
